A PDLC (Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal) smart film, also called a smart tint, privacy film, or switchable film, is a thin, flexible material that can be applied to glass surfaces to make them switch between opaque and transparent states. It consists of liquid crystals ingested in the middle of two transparent conductive films. When an electric current is applied, the alignment of the liquid crystals changes, allowing light to pass through and making the film transparent. When the current is turned off, the liquid crystals return to their original state, rendering the film opaque.
